Certificate IV in School Age Education & Care

Course Overview: Certificate IV in School Age Education & Care prepares you with the skills and knowledge, that is required to work in the development process of school aged children. It also allows you to learn and apply the common understanding of minor age development, and offers some fantastic career opportunities.

  • Duration: 36 Weeks
  • Funding: This quali­fication is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible candidates.
  • Course fee: Tuition fees- $6,700.00 ($0 for eligible Skills First Funding applicants)
  • Prerequisite: There is no formal prerequisite for this course.
  • Entry Requirements:

    Education/Core Skills
    Students must complete a Pre-Training Review, meet the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skill standards for Certificate IV level study and demonstrate that they are a suitable candidate for this course. 

    Age at Commencement
    It is recommended that students have attained the age of 18 by the course commencement date.

    Regulatory
    Evidence of Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required. All participants require a Unique Student Identification (USI) number. If you do not have a USI number you can apply for one online at https://www.usi.gov.au/students

  • Industry Requirement– Students must have a Working with Children Check and in some workplaces, a Police Check, to be accepted into work placement for this qualification.
  • Work-placement :120 hours in regulated care services

  • Work Placement Support: Work-placement Officers will facilitate the work placement for students into a regulated OSHC service.

    It is a requirement that students obtain the following documents prior to commencing practical placement.

    • Police Check (at applicant expense – cost between $30 and $50 AUD)
    • Working with Children Check (minimum level required ‘voluntary’ which is at no cost)
